City Council Rules and Communications Committee Page 13
March 24, 2011
- Providing Board and Commission Members with Notification of Important Community
Meetings
The Committee agreed that this item is a priority, and requested it be discussed at its April meeting.
- Providing Press Releases to On -Line News Wires
Chair Cassidy commented on the wealth of news provided by online sources. He noted there is a
cost involved —about $80 per release —so the City would need to be selective, and Ms. Marshall
commented on the need to develop criteria. Staff will research this item further and bring back
options for the Committee's consideration.
At a recent City Council meeting, the Council referred consideration for support for AB 961 to the
Committee. Ms. Omelas noted that the bill does not yet contain any specific language. She will
monitor the legislation, and bring it to the Committee for review at the appropriate time.
5. Public Comments
None.
6. Committee Member Comments
Committee Member Reed commented on online Ethics Training and issues with Facebook.
7. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
