DRAFT MINUTES Page 15 <br />Cite of San Leandro Cite Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting — April 4, 2011 <br />honoring of Mayor Emeritus Shelia Young and fundraiser for Luster Knight by Leadership <br />San Leandro at the Marina Inn; Washington Manor Little League with Councilmember <br />Starosciak; grand opening of the Senior Community Center; the San Leandro Old Timer <br />season opener; and rally at Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland honoring the public workers for <br />being threatened for bargaining and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was assassinated 43 <br />years ago today. Councilmember Prola requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in the <br />honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Councilmember Cutter reported that she attended some events mentioned by Councilmember <br />Prola. She reported on her attendance at a Waste Management meeting and its two programs, <br />Lose Your Lawn and Ready, Set, Recycle. She announced that a request for a proclamation <br />for Relay for Life is forthcoming. <br />Councilmember Starosciak congratulated staff on an excellent job opening the Senior <br />Community Center, an important facility in San Leandro. She requested a report on the <br />impacts on San Leandro if the half -cent sales tax is not extended in California. <br />Councilmember Souza reported on her attendance at the Senior Community Center grand <br />opening; the Floresta Little League Parade; the police recognition; and the Leadership San <br />Leandro fundraiser for Luster Knight. She commented on the outpouring of support and <br />appreciation for the opening of the Senior Community Center. She commented that she had <br />the honor of participating in Leadership San Leandro and serving on the San Leandro <br />Recreation and Parks Commission with Mr. Knight, and that he was a great San Leandran. <br />Contributions made to the City for the Luster Knight dedication are tax - deductible. <br />Councilmember Souza announced that Leadership San Leandro's Taste of San Leandro event <br />is on April 28, and that she is going to be a grandmother again. <br />Councilmember Gregory announced that there was a blood drive, as well as a new Red Cross <br />Club, at San Leandro High School. He reported that he attended an OSIsoft user conference <br />with over a thousand attendees from all over the world. He commented that OSIsoft is a force <br />in the international energy management circle. <br />Vice Mayor Reed announced that tonight's meeting would be adj ourned in memory of Martin <br />Luther King, Jr.; and Robert "Bob" Thomas Gallardo, a retired San Leandro employee and a <br />47 -year resident of San Leandro. <br />13.
