DRAFT MINUTES Page 2 <br />Cite of San Leandro Cite Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting — April 4, 2011 <br />REGULAR MEETING 7:00 PM — City Council Chambers <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. <br />A. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br />Councilmember Prola led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />B. ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Members Cutter, Gregory, Prola, Reed, Souza, Starosciak <br />ABSENT: Mayor Cassidy <br />C. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Councilmember Souza requested moving Item 8.C., the swearing in of Linda Entrikin to <br />the Library - Historical Commission to Item 2, Presentations/Recognitions. There was <br />consensus of the City Council to do so. <br />2. PRESENTATIONS / RECOGNITIONS <br />A. Proclamation Declaring April 2011 as Fair Housing Month in San Leandro. <br />Ms. Angie Watson - Hajjem, Fair Housing Counselor for ECHO (Eden Council for Hope <br />and Opportunity) Housing, accepted the "Fair Housing Month" proclamation presented <br />by Vice Mayor Reed. Ms. Watson - Hajjem commented that today marks the 43 <br />anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr., and that San Leandro is <br />one of the most integrated cities in the country. She thanked the City Council for the <br />City's partnership with ECHO Housing for over 20 years to eliminate housing <br />discrimination, and the past and continued support for the cause of ECHO Housing. <br />B. Presentation of Donation by San Leandro Optimists Club to the Recreation and Human <br />Services Department for Special Events. <br />Mr. Kevin Wright, Treasurer of the San Leandro Optimists Club, presented a monetary <br />donation for the Halloween Festival, Easter Egg Festival, and the Flag Day Ceremony, <br />and offered sponsorship and assistance to other community programs. He also <br />presented a payment for the remainder of the rifle range lease in advance. Recreation <br />and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson accepted the donation on behalf of the <br />City and expressed appreciation for helping to make this community special. <br />
