CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. A. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG Councilmember Prola led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. B. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Members Cutter, Gregory, Prola, Reed, Souza, Starosciak ABSENT: Mayor Cassidy C. ANNOUNCEMENTS Councilmember Souza requested moving Item 8.C., the swearing in of Linda Entrikin to the Library - Historical Commission to Item 2, Presentations/Recognitions. There was consensus of the City Council to do so. 2. PRESENTATIONS / RECOGNITIONS A. Proclamation Declaring April 2011 as Fair Housing Month in San Leandro. Ms. Angie Watson - Hajjem, Fair Housing Counselor for ECHO (Eden Council for Hope and Opportunity) Housing, accepted the "Fair Housing Month" proclamation presented by Vice Mayor Reed. Ms. Watson - Hajjem commented that today marks the 43 anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr., and that San Leandro is one of the most integrated cities in the country. She thanked the City Council for the City's partnership with ECHO Housing for over 20 years to eliminate housing discrimination, and the past and continued support for the cause of ECHO Housing. B. Presentation of Donation by San Leandro Optimists Club to the Recreation and Human Services Department for Special Events. Mr. Kevin Wright, Treasurer of the San Leandro Optimists Club, presented a monetary donation for the Halloween Festival, Easter Egg Festival, and the Flag Day Ceremony, and offered sponsorship and assistance to other community programs. He also presented a payment for the remainder of the rifle range lease in advance. Recreation and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson accepted the donation on behalf of the City and expressed appreciation for helping to make this community special.
