IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -084 <br /> RESOLUTION ADDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 4, <br /> SECTION 2.4.900 OF THE SAN LEANDRO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE REGARDING <br /> EXEMPTION FROM BUSINESS LICENSE REQUIREMENTS FOR FILM PROJECTS <br /> LASTING LESS THAN THREE DAYS <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.4.100 of the San Leandro Administrative Code, all <br /> persons who engage in professional fi lming within the City of San Leandro are required to obtain <br /> a filming permit, except where the professional filming involved is for news gathering purposes; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, most film companies considering production in San Leandro are for projects <br /> lasting less than three days and often involve only two to three cast or crew members; and <br /> WHEREAS, the expense of paying for a City business license is often a deterrent to small <br /> film companies wanting to do projects in San Leandro. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 1. That Section 2.4.900 is added to the San Leandro Administrative Code to <br /> read as follows: <br /> $2.4.900: BUSINESS LICENSE EXEMPTIONS. A business license shall not be <br /> required for filming projects lasting three days or less and involving a total of three or fewer cast <br /> and crew members. The Finance Director shall have the discretion to require a business license <br /> for any project scheduled to last more than three days and involving more than three cast and <br /> crew members. <br /> Any project required to have a business license shall be subject to the terms and <br /> conditions of Title 2, Chapter 2 of the San Leandro Municipal Code relating to Business <br /> Licenses. <br /> Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect on July 1, 2011. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Prola and passed and adopted this 2nd day of May, 2011, <br /> by the following called vote: <br />
