Medical Marijuana — Prohibition Ordinance 5 May 16, 2011 <br /> "Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and Associated Issues" presented to the <br /> California Police Chiefs Association, [undated] <br /> Conclusion <br /> A moratorium was established in the City of San Leandro in late 2010 for Medical Marijuana <br /> dispensaries and cultivation facilities in the City of San Leandro. The moratorium will conclude <br /> on September 30, 2011. The City Council directed staff to investigate various options related to <br /> dispensaries and cultivation of medical marijuana in San Leandro. Staff presented the <br /> experiences and approaches of other cities and the City Council heard testimony from San <br /> Leandro residents. At the conclusion of the February 28, 2011 work session, the City Council <br /> directed staff to prepare an ordinance prohibiting medical marijuana cooperatives and collectives <br /> in the City of San Leandro. Staff recommends the City Council adopt the ordinance prepared, <br /> which would be effective on October 1, 2011. <br />
