"Everybody down on the floor! Where's the money?"…..Rafael
Hernandez said he and other medical-marijuana entrepreneurs suspect the two robbers were the same men who have recently robbed two nearby dispensaries, including a Tuesday night stickup
at a place called "Mr. Stinky’s" at Third Avenue and Federal Boulevard. "They match the descriptions of the guys who've been robbing dispensaries up and down Federal," Rafael Hernandez
said. Wednesday morning's shooting was the first at a medical marijuana dispensary in Denver. It follows of rash of 25 medical marijuana-related robberies in Denver since July, said
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson. The crimes include 13 dispensary stickups and 12 other pot-related robberies, with targets ranging from medical marijuana growing operations to
home invasion robberies of medical marijuana patients. The Denver City Council and state lawmakers are considering legislation to tighten regulation of the booming medical marijuana
dispensaries, whose large amounts of cash and drugs have made them magnets for violent crime. "I think this whole new wave that these medicinal marijuana dispensaries are operating ...
is a draw for individuals that are looking at coming and taking advantage of the marijuana," Denver police Detective John White said. "It makes it an attractive target for individuals
looking to get marijuana for free." In California, Los Angeles has seen an explosion of dispensaries --from less than 186 pot shops to an estimated 1,000 in two years. With them has
come a "Wild West" wave of violent crime as organized gangs are robbing dispensaries, triggering shootouts with armed dispensary workers and the murder of an unarmed pot-shop guard……
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/21983704/detail.html State: 15 Colo. doctors writing most medical marijuana prescriptions KDVR Denver /December 17, 2009 DENVER, Colo. -Just a handful
of licensed physicians are writing the vast majority of medical marijuana prescriptions in Colorado, state health officials said Thursday. According to the Colorado Department of Public
Health and Environment, a total of 820 licensed physicians had authorized marijuana use for roughly 15,800 patients. However, of those physicians, just 15 accounted for 73 percent of
total patients, and five have accounted for about half. "These figures are representative of the concerns we have about whether some physicians really have a bonafide physician-patient
relationship, as required in the constitution, with those for whom they are authorizing the use of marijuana," said Chief Medical Officer Ned Calonge…..Approximately 70 marijuana dispensaries
are current open for business in the City and County of Denver. http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-marijuana-prescriptions-121709,0,2467562.story
39 Your Medical Marijuana Card Won't Work In Arizona December 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/--Your Medical Marijuana Card Won't Work In Arizona Many out-of-state drivers have found themselves
facing felony charges in Arizona for drug possession, even though it is legal in their home state. A new Arizona bill could change the state's stance. A California medical marijuana
card does not guarantee you safe passage in any state other than California. So, if you're crossing the border into Arizona -leave the pot at home. Some Californians, at least, have
learned this the hard way. Since 1996, when California legalized medical marijuana use, Arizona police officers have cited an increasing number of out-of-state visitors for drug possession.
In the years between 1999 and 2002, marijuana seizures in the state jumped by nearly 69 percent. Under Arizona law, possession of marijuana is a criminal offense and can result in felony
charges. Even if the marijuana is just for your own use, possession can net you a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00, plus a mandatory drug treatment, and a permanent criminal record.
Many visitors to the state, traveling with medical cards from other states, have found themselves facing felony charges, large fines and probation, thus the saying, "came on vacation,
left on probation."…… http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-release/your-medical-marijuana-card-wont-work-in-arizona-129185.php Search of car turns up gift-wrapped marijuana The Associated
Press /Posted on Thu, Dec. 24, 2009 JOPLIN, Mo. | Somebody won't be getting the Christmas presents that Missouri troopers seized from a car they stopped for speeding on Interstate 44
near Joplin this week. The Highway Patrol says troopers found about 20 pounds of marijuana in the car — some of it in luggage, and some in boxes wrapped as Christmas gifts. Two California
women in the eastbound car gave troopers permission to search the vehicle. Both were charged Tuesday with one marijuana-related count and released on $1,000 bond. http://www.kansascity.com/116/story/
1649930.html?storylink=omni_popular Car on closed road leads to marijuana arrest JOAN BARRON Casper Star-Tribune | Posted: Monday, December 28, 2009 CHEYENNE — A drug smuggler who ignored
a road closure on Interstate 80 failed to deliver his Christmas presents. On Christmas Day, the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed between Cheyenne and Laramie
because of blowing and drifting now, said a release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation…..The driver, Jared L. Frisinger, 28, of Fortuna, Calif., “offered up a rolled joint
of marijuana,” the release said. Troopers then searched the vehicle and found two boxes in the back seat wrapped as Christmas presents.
