Discussion Regarding the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce's Consultant Services <br /> Agreement Business Assistance Activities <br /> Chamber of Commerce CEO, Dave Johnson, provided the Committee with an overview of the <br /> scope of services and business assistance programs (see attached) provided by the Chamber of <br /> Commerce during the Fiscal Year 2010 -11. This overview was intended to supplement the <br /> quarterly update provided by Mr. Johnson at the Committee's last meeting. <br /> Development Manager Battenberg reminded the Committee that the scope of services is part of <br /> the consulting services agreement with the Chamber of Commerce which is funded through the <br /> Redevelopment Agency as part of its yearly budget, and that the 2011 -12 proposed uncapped <br /> scope of services is scheduled to be brought to the Business and Housing Development <br /> Committee on June 9, 2011. <br /> The Committee discussed the role of the Chamber of Commerce and. Councilmember Sousa <br /> expressed concern that the Chamber of Commerce is a political organization and therefore <br /> should have their funding from the City significantly reduced. Councilmember Reed requested <br /> that the Fiscal Year 2011 -12 consultant services agreement be reviewed by the entire Council and <br /> requested a further breakdown of the costs of each program. <br /> 4. Update on Development Projects <br /> a. Global Access Forum: Battenberg informed the Committee the City will be hosting a <br /> Global Access Forum on Friday, May 20th at the Senior Community center. The <br /> forum will bring together professionals from the Export-Import Bank of the United <br /> States (Ex -Im Bank), the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the US <br /> Department of Commerce to educate local companies on how to export goods and <br /> services to foreign markets. <br /> b. May Revise Budget: Governor Jerry Brown will be presenting his revised budget on <br /> Monday, May 16 at which time the City should have a better idea if the Governor <br /> will attempt to eliminate redevelopment in California. <br /> 5. Public Comments: None. <br /> 6. Committee Member Comments: The Committee reiterated their support for the Lit San <br /> Leandro project. <br /> 7.
