•
GUIDELINES REGARDING COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR
OR OPPOSITION TO BALLOT MEASURES OR LEGISLATION
(suggested changes in italics)
PURPOSE OF THE GUIDELINES:
The purpose of these guidelines is to describe the City Council's policy regarding support
for or opposition to ballot measures or legislation on local, state or national matters.
GUIDELINES:
The City Council as a group will not adopt a formal position in favor of or in opposition
to ballot measures or legislation unless such ballot measure or legislation has a direct
benefit to or impact on a significant portion of the community of San Leandro or the City
of San Leandro.
Councilmembers requesting City Council support or opposition to a measure or
legislation shall first receive consensus from the body to place said support or opposition
on a future agenda for Council discussion and consideration.
No public funds shall be used in any support for or opposition to any measure or
legislation.
Nothing in these Guidelines is intended to discourage or inhibit individual
Councilmembers from expressing their individual support for or opposition to any ballot
measure or legislation.
•
