What are the next steps to
1mp1einentadon?
The Board of Port Commissioners approved the master plan on March 7, 2006 (Resolution No. 06055).
The approved master plan is a concept -level planning and feasibility study that identifies potential near -
term projects (5 -year timeframe) and provides long -term (20 -year) on- Airport general land -use guidance.
The near -term projects identified in the master plan are not yet defined in sufficient detail to move
forward with implementation; additional study and analysis is required, including financial feasibility,
preliminary engineering, and environmental review, before the Port can commit to proceeding with
implementation of these projects.
For example, the master plan identified the need for a new 16 to 21 -gate terminal northwest of Terminal 1
in the 2010 to 2012 timeframe. Port staff is starting to conduct the studies and analyses required refine
potential terminal alternatives and determine if a new terminal is financially feasible. Port staff plans to
update the Stakeholder Advisory Committee on the terminal planning process at the next meeting (first
meeting after approval of the master plan) scheduled for May 4, 2006.
•
