The Port of Oakland, which oversees airport operations, and the Airport's Noise and Environmental Compliance Office work closely with neighboring communities and airport users to find ways of lessening impacts from airport operations. The Oakland Airport's Web site (link to OAK website) provides extensive information regarding noise and other airport issues. San Leandro's Mayor, City Council and staff also regularly work with community members and the Port of Oakland to address airport noise. The San Leandro City Council's Airport Committee, (link to our Meetings and Agendas page) for instance, meets every other month to discuss issues related to airport operations. The meetings are open to the public. (link to City Council Airport Committee agenda page) The City of San Leandro also participates in the Oakland Airport/Community Noise Management Forum, the North Field Flight Pattern Research Group and the South Field Research Group. Although the City of San Leandro does take numerous steps to encourage airport action to reduce the impact of airport operations on San Leandro residents, the City has no jurisdiction nor regulatory authority over aircraft operations at the airport. Aircraft operations are largely regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Oakland International Airport Complaints and Information The Oakland Airport has established a Noise Report Hotline at (510) 563 -6463 to register noise complaints. Responses to hotline inquiries are handled by airport staff on weekdays during normal business hours. Recorded messages can be left after hours.
