• •
Staff asked the Committee for suggestion for meeting agenda items. Their suggested
questions are listed below. Committee Member Nardine asked why the meetings cannot be
held on a Thursday or Friday. Staff replied that the Settlement Agreement with the Port
specifies that the joint meetings will be held immediately following the Port's Aviation
Committee meetings, which are held on Mondays. The Committee recommended that be
discussed and changed.
The Committee agreed that the following items will be forwarded to the Port of Oakland for
discussion at the September 27 joint meeting between the City Council Airport Committee
and the Port's Aviation Committee:
A. The City Council Airport Committee would like more response from the Port's Aviation
Committee or Port staff during the meetings, rather than just an acknowledgement of
issues raised.
D. The Port must make further demands on FedEx to eliminate the 727's from its fleet using
the Oakland Airport.
E. The Committee asks that the rolling take -off departure procedure be implemented as a
standard departure procedure for OAK.
F. The Committee would like a report on the status and progress of the Airport
Development Plan.
G. What is the status of the former United Airlines hangar and what are the Port's plans for
the use of this property?
H. The noise abatement departure procedure for departures on Runway 11 should be given a
higher priority for enforcement by the Port and FAA.
Committee Recommendation
None
3. Report on Airport Master Plan Stakeholder Committee Meetings
Kathy Omelas gave a report on the first Stakeholder Committee meeting. All San Leandro
representatives were present at the first meeting, which was held on June 10. The Port will
be following the FAA guidelines for airport master plans. The Committee asked for a copy
of those guidelines. (An electronic version was subsequently e- mailed to Committee
members and representatives of the North Field and South Field groups, plus the citizen
representatives on the Stakeholder Committee. Because of the size of the document, it has
not been attached to these highlights, but is available from the Community Relations
Representative.)
The Stakeholder Committee's first meeting discussed the existing inventory of facilities at
the airport today.
