Public Works and Information Technology has reduced staff due to budget reductions and increased
the number of buildings supported, such as the new Senior Community Center, and added and
expanded other programs /services without any increase in staff this fiscal year.
Total staff time is an additional 3 and 3 % hours per meeting. Annually, the additional staff time for
Committees would be up to 252 hours and 336 hours for Boards and Commissions. Part-time staff in
Public Works would be needed to implement the full program at a cost of $10,000 annually.
Audio file statistics show that the current files are viewed on average 60 times a month by the public
and 68 times a month by staff. (See attached).
If the Committee wishes to pursue digitally recording Committee and Boards and Commission meetings, staff
recommends creating a pilot program and reviewing the benefits, usage and costs in 6 months. The pilot
program would record the Rules and Communications Meetings in the Sister Cities Gallery and the Planning
Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustment in the Council Chambers.
