CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> STAFF REPORT APPROVED AND <br /> FORWARDED <br /> TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> DATE: July 18, 2011 <br /> Lianne Marshall <br /> TO: Lianne Marshall, Interim City Manager Interim City Manager <br /> FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br /> Engineering and Transportationtl .:r <br /> BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer • • <br /> Engineering and Transportation Dep.' ent <br /> SUBJECT PROJECT /PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE SAN LEANDRO HILLSIDE GEOLOGIC HAZARD ABATEMENT <br /> DISTRICT APPROVING THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE SAN LEANDRO HILLSIDE <br /> GEOLOGIC HAZARD ABATEMENT DISTRICT (GHAD) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010 -11. <br /> SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> This report provides an update on the activities of the San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard <br /> Abatement District (GHAD) for Fiscal Year 2010 -11. <br /> Staff recommends approval of the annual report of the GRAD for Fiscal Year 2010-11. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Following the hillside slide of 1998, the City Council, by Resolution No. 2000 -172, approved the <br /> formation of the GFIAD and appointed itself to act as the Board of Directors. <br /> Analysis <br /> There has been limited activity this fiscal year on GHAD- related issues, except for minor <br /> maintenance work by Public Works staff. Recent site investigation by staff did not indicate any <br /> sign of movement of the slope. <br /> Current City Council Policy <br /> • Establish the GI -IAD as a vehicle to implement repair of the Hillside Drive landslide <br /> • The GHAD is limited to twenty -six (26) properties, and collects and expends funds for <br /> landslide repair and maintenance <br /> • The GI -IAD's existence and activities are tied to its available funding <br /> • The GRAD will have no responsibility to perform activities beyond its funding capacity <br />
