NLC Prescription Discount Card 3 September 6, 2011 <br />Can the discount card be used with other insurance benefit to further reduce <br />costs? <br />No, the discount card cannot be used in conjunction with other insurance. <br />However, residents are encouraged to use the card to purchase prescriptions any <br />time the medication is not covered by their insurance plan. <br />Can the Prescription Discount Card be used in addition to Medicare for <br />additional discounts? <br />No. Residents present either their Medicare prescription plan card or Prescription <br />Discount Card. The Prescription Discount Card should only be used when <br />purchasing medications not covered by Medicare. <br />Staff proposes launching the program in October. Outreach will be conducted through press <br />release and information placed on the City website. The program provides savings on <br />prescription drugs to residents who are without health insurance or have prescriptions that are not <br />covered by insurance. We hope that this new program will help residents who need relief from <br />the high cost of prescriptions. <br />
