♦ Addressing Special Needs Housing <br />• The City has sixteen (16) below-market rate (BMR) properties with seventy (70) BMR <br />units set aside for people with various disabilities, such as physical and mental <br />disabilities, sight impairment, and/or hearing impaired. These BMR units include fifty (50) <br />units at Las Palmas Apartments whose ownership was transferred from Citizens Housing <br />to Eden Housing this past fiscal year. Additionally, the City monitors sixty (60) existing <br />BMR ownership units. <br />• The Alameda at San Leandro Crossings, which represents the initial development under <br />the City's acclaimed 2007 Downtown Transit -Oriented Development Strategy, is a <br />planned 100 -unit (including an on-site manager's unit) affordable family rental housing <br />development for very low-income households.
