SLUSD Staff Present: Superintendent Cindy Cathey; Assistant Superintendent Song Chin - <br />Bendib; Director of Measure B Mike Murphy, Program Director Kurt <br />Weidmann; San Leandro High School Principal Linda Granger <br />Public Present: Tom Abate, Patch <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. <br />1. Discussion Regarding Bond Measure M Update - Burrell Field <br />• Schematic Design <br />Superintendent Cathey began by thanking the Conceptual Design Team, Steering <br />Committee and the Technical Advisory Committee, plus subcommittees, for all the <br />behind the scenes work on the Pacific Sports Complex and Burrell Field and stated that <br />the project is still a work in progress. A schematic plan (Attachment A) of the project <br />was distributed. Assistant Superintendent Chin - Bendib began a discussion regarding a <br />portion of City property which would be used for additional parking at the Complex and <br />the timeline for processing the necessary documents or letter of commitment between <br />the City and District for use of the City property. Engineering and Transportation <br />Director Udemezue described the City property and the purpose of a joint use <br />agreement between the District and the City and reasons why City staff does not <br />recommend transferring the land to the District. Mayor Cassidy voiced concerns of <br />potential legal issues raised against the City. A discussion ensued regarding a land use <br />agreement versus a land transfer. <br />Committee Recommendation The Committee recommended that Engineering and <br />Transportation Department staff move forward with developing the land use agreement <br />related documents for consideration by the City Council for the land that is owned by the <br />City but will be used as part of the Burrell Sports Park development as recommended by <br />staff. <br />• Land Use Agreement <br />Ms. Chin - Bendib distributed another schematic plan (Attachment B), which included a <br />description of an "add on" property adjacent to the Sports Complex, for which the District <br />is requesting another joint use agreement with the City. A discussion of the use of the <br />property ensued, i.e., additional parking, overflow parking, landscaping upgrades. <br />Mayor Cassidy thanked everyone for all their diligent work on this worthwhile project. A <br />discussion ensued about the design of the proposed eight -lane track at Burrell Field. <br />Committee Recommendation The Committee recommended staff to move forward on <br />working with the school district staff regarding the potential costs associated with preparing <br />the southern portion of land owned by the City to be used for overflow parking, to be funded <br />by the bond measure, and voiced support of the concept. <br />2. Discussion Regarding Truancy Reduction Program /Daytime Curfew <br />Chief Spagnoli stated that she and the Superintendent met recently to discuss truancy <br />issues and the current City truancy ordinance.
