File Number: 11 -180 <br />the City's ADA curb ramp transition plan, several updated sidewalk curb ramps are installed <br />each year. Under this plan, ramps are installed adjacent to any new street work, at resident <br />requested locations, and eventually throughout the city. <br />Analysis <br />AJW Construction was awarded the contract to replace damaged improvements <br />identified <br />through the Sidewalk Program at approximately 124 locations around the <br />city. The work was <br />completed in 10 months and included replacement of approximately <br />2,050 linear <br />feet <br />of <br />damaged curb and gutter, 3,650 square feet of damaged sidewalk, <br />870 square <br />feet <br />of <br />damaged driveway approaches, 11,000 square feet of ADA ramps, and minor amounts <br />of <br />other concrete - related work. The work has been inspected and deemed <br />to comply <br />with <br />the <br />contract documents and City Standards. <br />The bid prices were less than the estimated prices, which allowed the City to perform <br />additional repairs. Change orders were issued to add these repair locations to the contract <br />and for some minor concrete work for various CI P projects. <br />Previous Citv Council Action(s <br />• On June 21, 2010, by Resolution No 2010 -079, the City Council approved the plans and <br />specifications and called for bids for the Annual Sidewalk Program 2010 -11 project <br />• On July 19, 2010, by Resolution No 2010 -097, the City Council awarded the contract for <br />this work to AJW Construction <br />Applicable General Plan Policy <br />Policy 14.07 - Pedestrian Environment - Strive to achieve a more comfortable environment <br />for pedestrians in all areas of San Leandro. <br />Environmental Review <br />This project is categorically exempt per CEQA Section 15301 (C). <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The total cost of the project, including administration of the sidewalk program for fiscal year <br />2010 -11 and inspection of this construction contract, was $363,200. The cost of the <br />construction contract was as follows: <br />Original Contract $222,950.00 <br />Contract Change Orders $114,467.82 <br />Total Contract Amount $337,417.82 <br />Budget Authority <br />• $129,000 was used from Measure B fund allocations as follows: <br />o $43,200 Measure B Bike & Pedestrian funds from 2010 -11 budget in account <br />City of San Leandro Page 2 Printed on 10/11/2011 <br />
