Ordinance <br />File Number: 11 -307 Agenda Section: ACTION ITEMS <br />Agenda Number: 10.A. <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Lianne Marshall <br />Interim City Manager /Executive Director <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: Not Applicable <br />TITLE: ADOPT: Ordinance No. 2011 -014, an Ordinance Amending Article 1, Chapter <br />5 -1 of Title 5 of the San Leandro Municipal Code Establishing a Bicycle Rack <br />Program (listed as Action Item due to passage on split vote) <br />Ordinance No. 2011 -014 an Ordinance Amending Article 1, Chapter 5 -1 of Title 5 of the <br />San Leandro Municipal Code Establishing a Bicycle Rack Program <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro recognizes that the installation of bicycle parking <br />racks improves San Leandro's transportation infrastructure and enhances San Leandro's <br />image as a livable, innovative city; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to provide parking for the increasing number of people <br />who choose bicycling as a transportation option. <br />follows: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does ORDAIN as <br />Section 1. The purpose is to establish regulations for placing bicycle racks within the <br />public right -of -way. <br />Section 2. Chapter 5 -1 of the City of San Leandro Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br />the addition of Article 1 as follows: <br />5 -1 -100 (a) (11) Placing street furniture, including bicycle racks, within the public <br />right -of -way. <br />Section 3.
