IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO ORDINANCE NO. 2011 -015 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1, CHAPTER 1 OF THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICTS WHEREAS, Section 230 of the San Leandro City Charter requires new district boundaries to be adopted by ordinance whenever the results of the federal census show an increase of five percent (5 %) or more since the last redistricting; and WHEREAS, the City Council last approved new Council district boundaries in 2002, following the 2000 federal census; and WHEREAS, the 2010 federal census data revealed population growth of 6.92% citywide, triggering the Charter requirement for the Council's adoption of new district boundaries. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does hereby ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Title I, Chapter 1, of the San Leandro Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1 -1 -100: DIVISION OF CITY. The City of San Leandro is hereby divided into six (6) Council Member Districts. Said districts shall be numbered, and the boundaries thereof shall be as indicated on that certain map entitled "City of San Leandro, Council Member District Map, 2012 ", a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE AND PUBLICATION. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after adoption. The City Clerk is directed to publish the title once and post a complete copy thereof on the City Council Chamber bulletin board for five (5) days prior to adoption.
