is attributable to the outstanding principal on the 2004 Tax Allocation Bonds <br />issued for capital improvements in the West San Leandro /MacArthur Boulevard <br />Area. The bond funds have been fully expended. <br />• Agency staff continued to provide assistance with the development of the Kaiser <br />Permanente Medical Center on the 63 -acre former Albertson's distribution site at <br />Marina Boulevard and 1 -880. The first phase of construction will consist of a 264 - <br />bed state -of- the -art hospital and a 275,000 square -foot hospital support building <br />and will provide over 2,300 jobs. <br />• The Agency continued working as part of the East Bay Green Corridor, a regional <br />partnership committed to strengthening the green technology economy while <br />reaching sustainability goals. In 2010 -11, Agency involvement in the Corridor <br />was focused in the areas of marketing /website development and business <br />development. A primary goal of the Agency's participation is to attract green <br />businesses to opportunity sites which mainly exist in the West San Leandro <br />industrial area. San Leandro staff also worked with other members of the green <br />Corridor to develop an e- Newsletter that highlights existing green businesses and <br />noteworthy stories about the region's green economy. The East Bay Green <br />Corridor was designated as an Innovation Hub (iHub) by the State of California. <br />• In 2010 -11 Agency staff assisted with the implementation of the "Careers in <br />Industrial Technology" program, an initiative to introduce high school students to <br />job training and opportunities in manufacturing businesses. The program was <br />launched this year and a group of students from San Leandro High School were <br />given tours of several industrial businesses within the City where they learned <br />about available jobs, hiring practices, and the skills required for a successful <br />career in manufacturing. <br />• The Agency continued implementation of an Industrial Competitiveness Grant <br />program to provide technical assistance as well as funding for capital <br />improvements which assist manufacturers and other industrial businesses in <br />increasing energy efficiencies, thereby reducing their costs. This not only meets <br />the City's goal of green house gas emissions reduction, but also assists <br />businesses in remaining competitive. In 2010 -11, the Agency used this program <br />to contribute to lighting improvements at Mi Rancho Tortilla Factory, <br />PrimeSource Building Materials, and Glesby Wholesale, and for the installation of <br />skylights at Scandic Springs. <br />• Ridge Foundry, located at 1554 Doolittle Drive, completed a successful fagade <br />improvement which included the installation of new fencing and landscaping <br />along the Doolittle frontage. <br />• In 2010 -11 the Agency continued to provide administrative support the San <br />Leandro LINKS shuttle which transports employees between industrial <br />businesses and the Downtown San Leandro BART Station.
