Temporary Sales Tax Measure, November 2010 5 July 19, 2010
• Audit: Independent audits occur annually as part of the City's municipal accounting
practices. The quarter cent sales tax would be audited each year, as part of the City's
annual audit. The audit results would be made available to the oversight committee.
• Citizens' Oversight Committee: It was first suggested by the Citizens' Budget Task Force
that an oversight committee be established, if a sales tax measure was successful. The
Council would appoint a committee of no more than five community members to review
the revenue and reports generated by the quarter cent sales tax.
Previous City Council Action(s)
June 21, 2010 Council directed staff to prepare documents for consideration at the July 19, 2010
meeting.
Summary of Public Outreach Efforts
As outlined in the background of this report.
CONCLUSION
This report provides an overview of the proposed temporary sales tax revenue measure for
consideration by the City Council for the November 2, 2010 election. Should they concur, the
City Council would need to adopt the related resolution.
