Resolution - Council <br />File Number: 12-089 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: James O'Leary <br />Interim Finance Director <br />TITLE: ADOPT: Resolution for Approval of the 2012 Alameda County Transportation <br />Expenditure Plan and Request for the Alameda County Board of Supervisors <br />to Place an Extension and Augmentation Measure for the Existing <br />Transportation Sales Tax on the November 6, 2012 Ballot (approves the <br />County's plan for transportation projects and asks the County to place a <br />measure for a half -cent sales tax increase before voters to fund the plan) <br />WHEREAS, The Alameda County Transportation Commission has approved a new <br />Alameda County Transportation Expenditure Plan pursuant to the authority of Public Utilities <br />Code Section 180000 et seq., and <br />WHEREAS, the Transportation Expenditure Plan development was guided by a Steering <br />Committee comprised of 14 representatives from Alameda County Cities, the Board of <br />Supervisors, AC Transit, and BART; and <br />WHEREAS, the Steering Committee was advised by a Community Advisory Working <br />Group composed of 27 Alameda County community members and a Technical Advisory <br />Working Group composed of staff members from Alameda County local jurisdictions, transit, <br />health, enforcement and parks agencies; and <br />WHEREAS, the Transportation Expenditure Plan was approved by the governing body of <br />the Alameda County Transportation Commission on January 26, 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the new Transportation Expenditure Plan consists of programs and projects <br />that are essential to improving the County's transit network and services, supporting the <br />needs of seniors and disabled, providing critical multi -modal transportation solutions to <br />expand travel choices and relieve congestion throughout the county, moving people and <br />goods more efficiently, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and <br />WHEREAS, the interests of the City of San Leandro and its residents and businesses will <br />benefit by the implementation of the new Transportation Expenditure Plan and the <br />City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 2/28/2012 <br />
