City of San Leandro Meeting Date: May 21, 2012 Resolution - Council File Number: 12 -244 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR Agenda Number: TO: City Council FROM: Chris Zapata City Manager BY: Mike Bakaldin Public Works Director FINANCE REVIEW: David Baum Finance Director TITLE: ADOPT: Resolution Appropriating $80,000 in Equipment Maintenance Fund Balance for the Purchase of Fuel for the Remainder of this Fiscal Year; and Appropriating $15,000 in Equipment Maintenance Fund Balance to Cover the Existing Shortfall in the Budget Line Item Covering `Vehicle Repair Outside' for the Remainder of this Fiscal Year (approves appropriations in the sum of $95,000) WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Leandro has established the Equipment Maintenance Fund to fund the purchase, operation and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment; and WHEREAS, the cost of fuels has increased 20% over last fiscal year and the budgeted funding is 98% spent at the end of the 3rd quarter; and WHEREAS there is an existing shortfall in the line item that covers outside vehicle repairs; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that $95,000 of Equipment Maintenance Balance funds be made available for the purchase of fuel and for needed outside vehicle repairs for the remainder of the fiscal year. follows: NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as 1. That an appropriation of funds be made from the Equipment Maintenance Balance account in the amount of $80,000 to account 690 -16- 001 -6180 for the purchase of fuel for the remainder of the fiscal year; and 2. That an appropriation of funds be made from the Equipment Maintenance Balance account in the amount of $15,000 to account 690 -16- 001 -5320 to cover the existing shortfall in this line item and for future outside work required in the remainder of this fiscal City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 511512012
