The current program will concentrate primarily in the 2012 Asphalt <br />Maintenance Area. <br />Staff recommends approval of the plans and specifications and calling for bids for the subject <br />project. <br />le[•]:Cr] CzollJ 0I �7 <br />City staff conducts an annual pavement condition survey using our Pavement Maintenance <br />System to establish the condition of City streets. Based on this survey, various City streets <br />are recommended for one of three maintenance treatments: reconstruction; overlay; or <br />sealing. Sealing is the recommended treatment for streets in fairly good condition to <br />rejuvenate and prolong the life of the pavement. Sealing treatments to be used may include: <br />1) slurry seal; 2) microsurfacing; 3) scrub seal; and 4) asphalt rubber cape seal. <br />The City of San Leandro is divided into four Asphalt Maintenance Areas, which allows <br />Engineering and Transportation staff and Public Works Services staff to coordinate their <br />activities to ensure an efficient use of resources to maintain City streets. The streets <br />scheduled for this project are primarily in the 2012 Asphalt Maintenance Area (see attached <br />map). <br />All street segments associated with this project are scheduled to receive an application of <br />asphalt rubber chip seal. There are only a few contractors in California who can apply asphalt <br />rubber chip seal.
