U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said the truck driver was supposed to be <br />hauling a shipment of flat - screen televisions. Authorities said a narcotics dog detected the drugs. When <br />agents opened the trailer, several large packages of pot fell out, authorities said. There were more than <br />1,000 packages of marijuana totaling more than 17,700 pounds. The accused smuggler is a 25-year-old <br />Mexican and registered participant in the FAST program. FAST is an agreement between Mexico, <br />Canada and the United States to expedite trade. Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriffs Department said police found a dangerous <br />situation when they got to the home of Lauriston Cochran, who also faces a charge of reckless conduct. <br />Police found spikes had been positioned in the floorboards and razor blades were set in the windows. <br />Wires were arranged so that anyone entering the growing area would trip and fall into the spikes and razor <br />blades, Gottardi said Friday.
