The funds are for
the development of neighborhood, community, and regional parks and recreation lands and
facilities. After completing a community process, the City developed a ranked list of City park
improvements projects for Council funding consideration through the Measure WW grant. In
the 2010 -2011 fiscal year budget, nine projects including the Marina Park Irrigation Project
was approved as part of the Capital Improvement Program.
Analysis
The current irrigation system at Marina Park was installed in the 1960's and has served its
useful life.
This project will replace the irrigation system in its entirety including irrigation lines and
sprinkler heads. Water pressure will be increased with the installation of booster pumps. An
enhanced irrigation control system will monitor weather information and adjust the irrigation
accordingly and will alert maintenance personnel of problems or leaks to optimize water usage
and conserve resources. The controllers can be operated remotely from central software that
will be installed at the Public Works service center. Hose connections will be installed at
picnic areas for maintenance cleaning.
City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 711012012
