IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -114 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUED PARTICIPATION AND EXTENSION <br /> OF THE ALAMEDA COUNTY ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT AUTHORITY <br /> WHEREAS, the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Authority (AVAA) <br /> was formed in 1993 and the City of San Leandro is an active member; and <br /> WHEREAS, since 1993, the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Authority <br /> and Program has provided approximately $22.8 million county -wide which has supported the <br /> participating agencies in the abatement of approximately 363,000 abandoned vehicles in <br /> Alameda County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Alameda County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program is set to <br /> expire May 31, 2013; and <br /> WHEREAS, new legislation allows for an extension of the Program with the approval of <br /> the County and a majority of the cities comprising a majority of the population of the <br /> incorporated areas; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable to the City of San Leandro to have the Program continue. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> That the City of San Leandro continues its participation in the Alameda County <br /> Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Authority and supports the extension of the Alameda County <br /> Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program until May 31, 2023. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Reed and passed and adopted this 15th day of October, <br /> 2012, by the following called vote: <br /> Members of the Council: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Dlugosh, Gregory, Prola, Reed, Sou7a; Mayor Cassidy (6) <br /> NOES: None (0) <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Cutter (1) <br /> ATTEST: V /.1 / <br /> Marian Handa, City Clerk <br />
