FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into this 1st day of
July , 1995, which date is designated for purposes of reference only, by
and between the ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT ( "County"), a dependent
special district and political subdivision of the State of C'alifomia, and the CITY OF SAN
LEANDRO ( "City"), a chartered municipal corporation.
The City and County desire to enter into this Agreement for the purposes of
merging the existing fire services of each jurisdiction into an integrated, efficient and
responsive consolidated fire service which will provide the highest level of fire
suppression, emergency medical response and related services to the citizens of each
jurisdiction. The parties believe that operating efficiencies, coordinated management
control and economies of scale will enable the parties to meet the fire service standards
historically provided to each respective community at less cost to the taxpayers.
The City and County have each met and conferred with their respective
employees' organizations regarding those matters within the scope of representation.
This Agreement incorporates the results of such meetings and conferring.
The City is entering into this Agreement pursuant to and in furtherance of the
powers prescribed by Section 130 of the City Charter.
In consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, the parties hereto agree
as follows:
FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES AGREEMENT Page 1 of 21
5
