San Leandro
in large parts have been able to stay out of the news that has riddled our neighboring cities of Oakland
and Hayward. I am bothered to hear the city that I have now called my home is strongly considering
allowing marijuana dispensaries into this city. I implore you to please do not let this happen! This city
does not need an element that attracts crime or promotes questionable behavior. Our neighbors in
Oakland and San Lorenzo have their own facilities; we do not need one too.

San Leandro is also trying to attract new businesses with the Lit San Leandro Broadband project and has
just hired a Chief Innovation Officer. Is it really worth a potential business asking or worrying about the
effect of a marijuana dispensary to them if they move to San Leandro? Having a dispensary could be a
deal breaker, any cost benefit from a dispensary could easily be outweighed by discouraging other
businesses from coming in.

Please refer to the article below regarding the city of Los Angeles and what a headache it has been for
them.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/08/us/california‐fight‐to‐ensure‐marijuana‐goes‐only‐to‐sick.html?_r=1&
