30 City of San Leandro | Economic Development Initiatives and Work Plan | May 2013 <br /> <br />Other opportunities are being explored and will develop as staff and financial resources and/or <br />public-private partnerships materialize to support initiatives. <br />Ongoing Activities <br />Physical Infrastructure - These activities, discussed in greater detail elsewhere in this Work <br />Plan, ensure enable strategically chosen improvements in San Leandro as part of a healthy tech <br />and innovation ecosystem. <br />Activities in Process: <br />• Downtown Transit Oriented Development: walkable communities, dense housing, new <br />tech office space development <br />• Marina Shoreline Development: mixed use, hotel, conference center, shoreline <br />recreation <br />• LINKS: Free bus shuttle that connects people to places. Expansion to include the Kaiser <br />development is currently under development. <br />• Fiber Network Expansion: Connections to San Leandro property sites/businesses, EDA <br />grant expansion, Open Trench Policy, Regional Expansion <br />Activities under Exploration: <br />• Smart City Initiative: Expansion of the Lit San Leandro network to connect to all public <br />facilities, including schools, city facilities, open spaces and hospitals. This would enable <br />greater access to the power of Lit <br />San Leandro for all of our citizens <br />and visitors. It would also enable <br />greater access to live status <br />updates on traffic patterns, public <br />safety, pollution, parking spaces, <br />water, power and light. This kind of <br />information could improve the <br />economic and environmental <br />health of the city for residents, <br />merchants, and visitors. It could <br />also improve working conditions and productivity for the people who maintain the City <br />of San Leandro. <br />
