City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: July 15, 2013 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:13-361 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.F. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Carolyn Knudtson <br />Recreation and Human Services Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report Recommending a Motion to Adopt the Funding Allocations <br />Formulated by the Human Services Commission Regarding the Community <br />Investment Program Funding for FY13-14 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends a motion accepting the recommendations made by the Human Services <br />Commission to allocate the $150,000 Community Investment Program Funds for FY13-14. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On April 3, 2013, the City Council hosted a Work Session regarding Current and Future <br />Challenges facing Social Services in San Leandro. The discussion included input from <br />several social service agencies located within and/or serving San Leandro. <br />On May 6, 2013, the City Council authorized the City Manager to implement a Community <br />Investment Program of $300,000 in which $150,000 should be used to support community <br />services ($15,000 was specifically allocated to Eden I & R). The City Council directed that the <br />Human Services Commission come forward with recommendations for allocating the <br />remaining funds. <br />On June 26, 2013 the Human Services Commission formulated funding recommendations <br />based on applications received in January 2013 for the Community Assistance Program <br />(CAP), plus an additional request from Davis Street Family Resource Center to support core <br />operations.
