of its business as a public utility, or to any other work by such corporation. the performance of <br /> which is exempt under the Constitution of any law of the State of California from payment of <br /> any municipal tax. All other provisions of this Chapter shall apply, if applicable, to all electrical <br /> work performed by such public utility corporations. Nothing herein contained shall be construed <br /> to allow any such corporation to perform electrical work for the public, or to engage in the <br /> business of electrical contracting. <br /> Section 7-5-645: EXEMPTIONS FROM PERMIT REQUIREMENT. An electrical permit <br /> shall not be required for the following: <br /> (a) Portable motors or other portable appliances energized by the means of a cord or <br /> cable having an attachment plug end to be connected to an approved receptacle when that cord or <br /> cable is permitted by the Electrical Code; <br /> (b) Repair or replacement of fixed motors, transformers, or fixed approved appliances <br /> of the same type and rating in the same location; <br /> (c) Installation of temporary decorative lighting; <br /> (d) Repair or replacement of current - carrying pans of any switch, contactor or <br /> control device; <br /> (e) Reinstallation of attachment plug receptacles, but not the outlets associated <br /> therewith; <br /> (f) Repair or replacement of any over current device of the required capacity in the <br /> same location; <br /> (g) Repair or replacement of electrodes or transformers of the same size and capacity <br /> for signs or gas tube systems; <br /> (i) Removal of electrical wiring; <br /> (j) Installation of temporary wiring for experimental purposes in suitable <br /> experimental laboratories; <br /> (k) Installation of wiring for a temporary theater, motion picture or television stage <br /> sets; <br /> (I) Installation of electrical wiring, devices, appliances, apparatus, or equipment <br /> operating at less than twenty-five (25) volts and not capable of supplying more than fifty (50) <br /> watts of energy; <br /> (m) Installation of low-energy power, control and signal circuits of classes II & III as <br /> defined in the Electrical Code." <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2013-014 2 <br />
