38 City of San Leandro | Economic Development Initiatives and Work Plan | December 2013 <br /> <br />Initiative #8: Regional Coordination and Policy Development <br />San Leandro’s Business Development staff actively participates in numerous regional <br />organizations. Often, the most effective economic development initiatives take place on a <br />regional level. This approach avoids duplication of services and unnecessary competition to <br />ensure that resources are deployed in the most effective manner possible. <br />Ongoing Activities <br />East Bay EDA – The East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay <br />EDA) is a public/private partnership serving the San Francisco East Bay <br />including Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The East Bay EDA works to <br />establish the East Bay as a world-recognized place to grow businesses, <br />attract capital, and create quality jobs. The East Bay EDA is also the vehicle <br />through which the East Bay's public and private leaders collaborate to <br />achieve our shared goal of a healthy, vibrant economy able to create and sustain quality jobs. <br />In pursuit of their mission, East Bay EDA has a four-pronged strategy: <br /> Shaping economic understanding <br /> Leading collaborative efforts <br /> Promoting the East Bay <br /> Serving our members <br />Accomplishments To-Date: City staff is actively involved in shaping the EDA’s vision and <br />participating in ongoing activities. In the past year, San Leandro has played an active role in the <br />production of the first-ever East Bay Innovation Awards and is participating in an East Bay EDA <br />subcommittee working to develop advanced manufacturing in the region. <br /> <br />East Bay Green Corridor – Home to UC Berkeley, <br />Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and a highly <br />educated and entrepreneurial workforce, the East <br />Bay Green Corridor is poised to lead California in the <br />emerging clean technology economy. <br />The Green Corridor represents a commitment to build upon the region’s existing strength as a <br />center for emerging green technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. <br />
