Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 17, 1995 Page - 3 - <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS (continued) <br /> C. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, thanked Council Members for <br /> attending the "Friends of the San Leandro Creek Festival . " He said <br /> over 300 people attended, and there were more than 25 exhibitors. He <br /> also thanked the 40 people who turned out for the "Quick Creek Clean- <br /> Up, " including 10 volunteers from the Shelter on Davis Street, who were <br /> involved and wanted to give back to the community which has given so <br /> much to them. <br /> D. Matt Pedolino, Vice President of the Washington Manor Junior League, <br /> presented a letter and requested the City Council endorse and support <br /> the Poney Baseball Association Pacific Zone Championship Tournament. <br /> He said this will be a youth baseball league for the 13- to 14-year-old <br /> age group, at San Leandro Ballpark, and the group is trying to raise <br /> $8,000 to cover expenses. <br /> Mayor Corbett directed the matter of creation of an Ad Hoc Committee, <br /> consisting of Council Members Perry, Kerr, and Myers, be placed on the <br /> May 1 City Council Agenda to consider this matter. <br /> E. Ellen Geis, noted it was difficult to hear the City Council . The City <br /> Clerk explained that the PA system will be repaired and new microphones <br /> installed by the next regular City Council Meeting. <br /> F. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, spoke regarding a newspaper article <br /> on City assistance to a housing unit. He congratulated the people <br /> selected to serve on various Commissions but said they were selected as <br /> a thank-you for campaigning or for their monetary donations to Council <br /> candidates. He further spoke regarding the appointment of Dale Reed to <br /> the Planning Commission. He said he did not feel Council Member <br /> Loeffler could adequately perform in both his positions as City Council <br /> Member and as Garfield School Principal , and he does not feel Council <br /> Member Loeffler is fiscally responsible. He spoke regarding comments <br /> Council Member Loeffler made related to guns at a recent homeowner's <br /> association meeting, and he spoke regarding class test scores. <br /> G. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, spoke on a number of matters, <br /> including the use of taxpayers' money to save vintage buildings, the <br /> payments associated with the Cal -Boat Loan, appointments of City <br /> Council Members to inter-governmental agencies, and the appointment of <br /> Dale Reed to the Planning Commission. He also asked questions <br /> regarding the meaning of At-Large appointments and whether any of the <br /> nominees were attorneys, and asked for an explanation of the control <br /> the City would have over a consolidated election. <br />
