Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - March 1, 1993 Page - 11 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> Mr. Keown, spoke again and asked if the City feels it has a <br /> responsibility regarding street trees. Mayor Karp said most cities <br /> don't pay any share at all for street-tree-related work. Council <br /> Member Corbett said she had asked the City Manager to see if there was <br /> any way the City could pay for 1000 of sidewalk repairs, but the City <br /> does not have the financial ability. Mr. Keown said his parents live <br /> in Oakland, and they have never incurred any costs related to damage to <br /> sidewalks from street trees. He asked what the City would do about <br /> tree damage to his walkway and driveway on his property. Mr. Silva <br /> said the only corrective action that is taken is if a street tree <br /> damages a private driveway behind the right of way and work must be <br /> done in order to make the driveway in the public right of way conform. <br /> He said, otherwise, no corrective action is taken on private property. <br /> There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council <br /> Member Myers, seconded by Council Member Kerr, and carried unanimously, <br /> the Public Hearing was closed. <br /> The City Council introduced the following Resolution to override the <br /> protest by Mr. Keown at 891 Martin Boulevard: <br /> Resolution No. 93-38, Resolution Overruling Protest, Cost of Repairing <br /> Sidewalks, Curbs and Gutters, Martin Boulevard Area Neighborhood <br /> Improvement District, Improvement Act of 1911 . (2714) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved its adoption, seconded by <br /> Council Member Myers, and carried by the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> The City Council introduced the following Resolution, including the <br /> Amended Superintendent of Street's Report as presented to them, further <br /> amended to reduce the assessment of 1123 Martin Boulevard to $750: <br /> Resolution No. 93-39, Resolution Confirming Special Assessments, Cost <br /> of Repairing Sidewalks, Curbs and Gutters, for the Martin Boulevard <br /> Area Neighborhood Improvement District, Improvement Act of 1911 <br /> (confirms the Report of Superintendent of Streets and assesses the cost <br /> of repairs) .
