Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - March 1, 1993 Page - 11 - PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) Mr. Keown, spoke again and asked if the City feels it has a responsibility regarding street trees. Mayor Karp said most cities don't pay any share at all for street-tree-related work. Council Member Corbett said she had asked the City Manager to see if there was any way the City could pay for 1000 of sidewalk repairs, but the City does not have the financial ability. Mr. Keown said his parents live in Oakland, and they have never incurred any costs related to damage to sidewalks from street trees. He asked what the City would do about tree damage to his walkway and driveway on his property. Mr. Silva said the only corrective action that is taken is if a street tree damages a private driveway behind the right of way and work must be done in order to make the driveway in the public right of way conform. He said, otherwise, no corrective action is taken on private property. There being no further comments from the public, on motion of Council Member Myers, seconded by Council Member Kerr, and carried unanimously, the Public Hearing was closed. The City Council introduced the following Resolution to override the protest by Mr. Keown at 891 Martin Boulevard: Resolution No. 93-38, Resolution Overruling Protest, Cost of Repairing Sidewalks, Curbs and Gutters, Martin Boulevard Area Neighborhood Improvement District, Improvement Act of 1911 . (2714) Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Myers, and carried by the following called vote: AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Karp ( 7 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 ) The City Council introduced the following Resolution, including the Amended Superintendent of Street's Report as presented to them, further amended to reduce the assessment of 1123 Martin Boulevard to $750: Resolution No. 93-39, Resolution Confirming Special Assessments, Cost of Repairing Sidewalks, Curbs and Gutters, for the Martin Boulevard Area Neighborhood Improvement District, Improvement Act of 1911 (confirms the Report of Superintendent of Streets and assesses the cost of repairs) .
