Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 14, 1993 Page - 16 - MATTER OF DISCUSSION REGARDING PROCESS TO FILL VACANCY - COUNCIL DISTRICT 1 (continued) The following Motion was then introduced: Minute Order No. 93-41. Matter of Discussion Regarding Process to Fill Vacancy - Council District 1. On motion by Council Member Kerr, seconded by Council Member Myers, and carried unanimously, the City Council approved the process as written and amended. The amendments included: - Revising the application to indicate the interviews would begin at 8:00 and would be a public meeting. - The order of the interviews would be set by random order, with the City Clerk pulling the names out of a hat to develop the order. - This matter would be listed on the June 21st City Council Agenda to allow the City Council to make any changes they deemed necessary, depending upon the number of applicants. - The successful applicant would be determined and voted upon at the meeting on the 24th. The person would be sworn in on the 28th at the beginning of the meeting. - The order of the applicants will be posted outside the South Offices Conference Room door on the evening of the meeting. AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Faria ( 6 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 ) 7. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS A. Council Member Myers commended staff and the Cherry Festival Corporation for the good job. He said everyone had a good time at the Festival . He said the state of the economy has a big part to play in whether people spend money. B. Council Member Myers commended Martin Francis on his excellent Flag Day Ceremony. He also noted Esther Holcomb was the only member present from the San Leandro School Board; Dorothy Partridge, Betty Moose, and Janis Duran were present from the San Lorenzo District; and 100% of the City Council was present. He noted that, at the last joint meeting he attended with the School Districts, only three San Leandro School Board members were present, while the entire City Council attended. He suggested City staff contact the School Board and set up some joint meetings, discuss attendance, etc.
