(1177)
Introduced by Council Member Polvorosa, who moved its adoption,
seconded by Council Member Nahm, and carried by the following called
vote:
AYES: Council Members Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa;
Mayor Faria ( 6 )
NOES: None (
ABSENT: Council Member Corbett 1 )
E. Presentation and Consideration of Findings in Response to Written
Objections on Adoption of the Redevelopment Plan. Continued from the
City Council Meeting of June 28, 1993.
Steve Meyers, City Attorney, said Items E, F, and G were all related to
the Public Hearing held by the City Council last week on the Joint
County-City Redevelopment Plan. He said at the end of the Joint
Hearing it was recommended that these three items be continued to
tonight's meeting.
He said Community Redevelopment Law requires that, if written
objections are filed, staff must prepare written responses to those
objections not earlier than five days from the date of the Hearing. He
said only a few letters were received, and most of the comments were
questions related to eminent domain.
He said County and City staff had recommended changes which
substantially reduce the authority of the Agency to use eminent domain.
He said, in the materials forwarded to the City Council , there was a
Resolution and an Appendix A, which contained the eight letters
received and included responses to each of the letters. He said at the
end of the Appendix there was a map and a listing of all of the
properties subject to eminent domain. He said there are also some
changes to pages of the actual Plan document which reflect actions
taken at the Public Hearing.
He recommended the City Council approve Items F and G.
