Matter of Furlough Program. (1112) <br /> On motion by Council Member Kerr, who moved its approval , seconded by <br /> Council Member Myers, and carried by the following called vote, the <br /> City Council approved and directed staff to make preparations for <br /> implementation of the Furlough Program for December 1993, as outlined <br /> in the staff report dated July 27, 1993, discussed at the Work Session. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 8. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> None <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Myers formally commended the Police Department for <br /> arrests they made in the North Area related to the shootings. Also, <br /> with regard to the North Area, people are talking about the <br /> Neighborhood Watch Program and the person who kept her eyes open and <br /> stopped a bank robbery. <br /> Council Member Myers commended staff for the dedication ceremonies held <br /> for the Library Senior Meeting Facility. He said he knows staff did <br /> this themselves, and they did an excellent job. <br /> Council Member Myers, in honor of their 30th wedding anniversary, <br /> introduced his wife, Mike. <br /> B. Council Member Corbett echoed Council Member Myers' comments and <br /> thanked Susan Jorgensen, who helped foil the bank robbery in the North <br /> Area. <br /> Council Member Corbett thanked the Council for being available and <br /> present at the Neighborhood Watch meetings and said it has been great <br /> to see the community pull together around the North Area. <br /> Council Member Corbett said the Council has a bit of competition <br /> regarding "National Night Out" and stated her district won again. <br /> There were nine "Nights Out. " <br /> Council Member Corbett congratulated the people who put on the Dahlia <br /> Show. <br />
