He said he has read that it will cost $2 million to dredge the 2-mile channel , but now there is a $5-million dredging-tailing fee. He said the citizens are being lied to. He questioned why the City is planning on removing South Dike Road. He said the City took out a loan from the California Small Boat Association. He said he will be running for Mayor. City Manager Mike Oliver said City staff would be glad to sit down and spend time with Mr. Grubbs. Mr. Grubbs provided his phone number. E. Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, said his address was incorrect in the August 16th minutes; staff said this would be corrected. F. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, said plans for the Alzheimer's Memory Walk are in full swing. He said the San Lorenzo Arroyo Marching Band will be there, and they are working to get the San Leandro High School Jazz Band and the Dance Studio. He said the response has been very good, and it is getting exciting. He distributed brochures and said he had a supply of tickets for the A's game for Council Member Perry to give to people she has recruited.. He said the Walk will be on October 2nd, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Marina Par Course. 4. PRESENTATIONS (continued) Mayor Faria presented Certificates of Commendation to Youth Advisory Commissioners Alvarez, Kallan, and Cardena. The Commissioners said serving on the Commission was a lot of fun, and they accomplished a lot in a short period of time. They said they hope parents will continue to get their children involved so they can take an active role in government. 6. CONSENT CALENDAR A. The minutes of the meeting of August 16, 1993 were approved as submitted.
