Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - June 13, 1994 Page - 4 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> that the Finance Committee should be looking at next year and beyond <br /> and coming back to the City Council with strategies. <br /> Mike Oliver said it is important to tie Economic Development Strategies <br /> to the development of revenue and said staff is working on <br /> recommendations to enhance long-term finances. <br /> The following Ordinances were then introduced: <br /> Ordinance No. 94-011, An Ordinance Amending Title II, Chapter 4, of the <br /> San Leandro Municipal Code Relating to Utility User Taxes for <br /> Telephone, Electrical , Gas and Cable Television Service, and Declaring <br /> This Ordinance to Be an Urgency Measure, to Take Effect Immediately, <br /> Because it Relates to Taxes for the Usual and Current Expenses of This <br /> City (provides for an increase in the utility-user tax for residential <br /> users from 5% to 6% and adds Cable TV to the tax base, to become <br /> effective immediately) . (1170) <br /> Introduced by Council Member Kerr, who moved that it be passed to print <br /> and adopted, seconded by Council Member Polvorosa, and carried by the <br /> following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Galvan, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa ( 5 ) <br /> NOES: Council Member Loeffler ( 1 ) <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Corbett ( 1 ) <br /> Ordinance No. 94-012, An Ordinance Amending Section 2-10-110 of Chapter <br /> 10, Title II of the San Leandro Municipal Code Relating to Uniform <br /> Transient Occupancy Tax and Declaring This Ordinance to Be an Urgency <br /> Measure, to Take Effect Immediately, Because It Relates to Taxes for <br /> the Usual and Current Expenses of This City (provides for an increase <br /> in the Transient Occupancy Tax from 8% to 10%, to become effective <br /> immediately) .
