NEW BUSINESS <br /> Items removed from the Consent Calendar. <br /> 6.F. Resolution Approving Requirements for Encroachment Permits for Fiber Optic <br /> Cable (directs City Manager to require that fiber-optic cable installations <br /> by outside vendors allow for concurrent or future City telecommunications <br /> use) . <br /> Sam Del Castillo said he is with a local telecommunications company and <br /> said, if his company wants to put fiber-optic cable through City streets, <br /> they have no legal obligation to provide capacity or access to the City. <br /> Steve Meyers, City Attorney, said the Resolution on the City Council Agenda <br /> would give the City Manager the authority to negotiate terms and conditions <br /> of Encroachment Permits, such as additional capacity, but will not require <br /> free access. He said Mr. Del Castillo would be able to obtain his permit <br /> from the City Engineer. <br /> Lou Filipovich asked if the Resolution applied to commercial and industrial <br /> property or individual homeowners and parcel property. Mr. Meyers said the <br /> gentleman who spoke wants to install fiber-optic cable in City streets. <br />
