NEW BUSINESS
6B. Resolution Approving Amendment to Contractual Services Agreement with
Environmental Science Associates Relating to Dredge Disposal Site
Reconfiguration CEQA Document Preparation, Project No. 92-8667
(provides for additional services required in the preparation of the
CEQA documents for the Dredge Disposal Site Reconfiguration project) .
City Manager Mike Oliver said this amendment provides for additional
services related to State and Federal mandates regarding the dredge
disposal area.
Bill Silva, City Engineer, said the original agreement provides for an
environmental evaluation of the process of removing the dredge spoils
from their current location. He said an operations and management plan
has been approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the
City is in the process of developing the contract documents for the
removal of the material . He said the amendment to the agreement is
required because alternates for the disposal of the material , including
hauling the material to Oyster Bay Regional Park, Oakland Scavenger
land fill at the foot of Durham 'Road in Fremont, and two or three
alternatives to the methods of hauling the material , have become
available. He said the City 'has asked ESA to expand their work to
include study of these alternatives and that is the reason for
amendment of the contract.
Council Member Myers commented that there are approximately 350,000
cubic yards to be moved and asked what the time frame is to accomplish
this.
