Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - February 4, 1991 Page - 5 - <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 91-13 (1024) <br /> A-90-6 <br /> APPROVING AMENDMENT TO THE ZONING CODE <br /> REGARDING ACCESSIBILITY OF RESTROOMS AT SERVICE STATIONS <br /> On motion by Council Member Santos who moved its approval , seconded by Council <br /> Member Faria and carried by the following called vote, the City Council approved <br /> A-90-6 and directed the Board of Zoning Adjustments to consider handicapped <br /> accessibility for limited-service, automobile service stations and to impose all <br /> appropriate and reasonable conditions to ensure equal access and service to <br /> handicapped persons. <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br /> 8. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Santos said that Mrs. Laris had complained about excessive <br /> noise from the Latchford Glass Company in the evening hours. He said <br /> he also had heard from Betty Cox on this matter. He said Latchford Glass <br /> had offered to meet to try and resolve the problem and asked that <br /> Caroline Rueda, Community Relations Representative, set up a meeting. <br /> B. Council Member Santos said that if the City Council had received the <br /> Capital Improvement Summary for the Water Pollution Control Plant at <br /> their previous meeting, they might have voted differently on the matter <br /> of the Contractual Services Agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc. <br /> C. Council Member Corbett commended Mr. and Mrs. Hilton and Pam Richards <br /> for putting up yellow ribbons in the Best Avenue area. She thanked them <br /> for their time and their spirit. <br /> D. Council Member Polvorosa noted that he had recently taken a tour of the <br /> City Service Center and the Water Pollution Control Plant with Bob Taylor <br /> and Bill Howard, and he thanked them for their cooperation and <br /> information. He said it was a good tour and noted that the public could <br /> request a tour, also. <br /> E. Council Member Perry noted that a number of yellow ribbons had been put <br /> up in her area. She also noted that she will be holding a Town Hall <br /> Meeting on March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Elementary School Multi- <br /> Purpose Room. <br /> F. Council Member Faria noted that Senator Quentin Kopp had introduced SB <br /> 22, which raised the amount paid at Bingo Games from $250 to $1,000 per <br /> game. He said this proposal would hurt churches who cannot compete with <br /> larger Bingo organizations. He said he had talked to several churches <br /> and suggested they send letters to Senator Kopp. <br />
