Introduction of Winners of the "Real Women" County-Wide Essay Contest, Co-Sponsored by the Commission on the Status of Women and the Alameda County Board of Education. Council Member Perry said the purpose of the Contest is to encourage students to look at the lives of women around them and acknowledge their contributions. Council Member Perry said the following students had won awards: Bancroft Middle School Jeffrey Lougin -- 2nd Place, 7th Grade Arroyo High School Tieena Ree Ives -- 1st Place, 10th Grade Paul Henderick -- 2nd Place, 10th Grade Kevin Kelley -- 2nd Place, 11th Grade Amy Musgrave -- 2nd Place, 12th Grade Angela Quiroz -- 3rd Place, 8th Grade Susie Kim -- 3rd Place, 10th Grade Amy Moyers -- 3rd Place, 11th Grade Susana Lee -- 3rd Place, 12th Grade She also acknowledged two of the teachers of the students who were in the audience, Gretchen Brook and Pat Everitt, and thanked Vice Principal Myron Levine for his participation. She also extended her thanks to the parents for encouraging their children to participate in the program. C. City Manager Dick Randall noted that the reorganization of the Community Development Department had now been completed and introduced two new Department Heads: Bill Algire, Director of Engineering and Transportation, and June Catalano, Director of Planning and Building. He said each of the new Department Heads had broad experience and background that would be of value to the City, and he looked forward to working with them. He also noted that Mrs. Catalano is the first woman Department Head in San Leandro. 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no comments from the public. 6. CONSENT CALENDAR A. The minutes of the meeting of April 15, 1991 were approved as submitted.
