The Mayor noted that five different agencies have <br /> jurisdiction over the property, and it has been difficult to get them <br /> all to work in unison. <br /> Council Member Glaze said the City has been attempting to get the Park <br /> District to accept the land. He said the Mayor and City Council have <br /> attempted to obtain funds from the Federal Government, as well as the <br /> State and the Port of Oakland, to buy the property, but have been <br /> unsuccessful . He said Citation Homes tried to sell the property in <br /> 1988, but public funds were not available and are still not available. <br /> Council Member Perry said she and Council Member Corbett had discussed <br /> the matter of the Park District taking over the land with members of <br /> the Park District Board while they were on board the Alma on Saturday, <br /> but the District said it is not part of their master plan. She said <br /> at least tonight's process would protect some portion of the land. <br /> Council Member Santos said the action to be taken at tonight's meeting <br /> was the result of years of complex negotiations. He noted that there <br /> is a restoration plan for the property which will create more wetlands <br /> than currently exist on the site. <br /> The City Council concluded by saying that a number of public agencies <br /> are interested in purchasing the site and maintaining it as open space, <br /> but the funds to do so are not available. <br /> 5. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. RESOLUTION NO. 91-155 (2310) <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH <br /> CALIFORNIA CONSERVATORY THEATER <br /> Introduced by Council Member Corbett who moved its adoption, seconded by Council <br /> Member Perry and carried by the following called vote: <br /> AYES: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp ( 7 ) <br /> NOES: None ( 0 ) <br /> ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br />
