Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - August 5, 1991 Page - 14 - <br /> 9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> A. Council Member Corbett said she and the Mayor had participated in the <br /> Bay Cycle Classic Race to raise funds for the Bay Trail . She said the <br /> event was a lot of fun and for a worthy cause. <br /> B. Council Member Polvorosa said he had gone on the Chamber Mystery Trip <br /> to Sacramento Old Town and on the River Queen. He said the trip was <br /> enjoyable and a lot of people had participated. <br /> C. Council Member Perry said she had attended the public hearing portion <br /> of the Federal Block Grant for Child Care. She said more than $1 <br /> million will be allocated to Alameda County. She discussed priorities <br /> and needs and said she will provide additional information to the City <br /> Council . <br /> D. Council Member Perry noted that tomorrow night is National Night Out. <br /> She said there will be a number of activities conducted throughout the <br /> City and encouraged people to participate. <br /> E. Council Member Faria asked for a report on the San Leandro Marina berth <br /> rate increases. He noted there appear to be a number of vacant berths <br /> and questioned whether this is the right time to increase rates. <br /> F. Council Member Faria noted a "We Tip" flyer announcing a $1000 reward <br /> to stop graffiti . He asked that staff look into this organization. <br /> G. Council Member Faria commented on the number of false alarms received <br /> by the Fire Department through May. He asked for a breakdown and <br /> additional details and said 226 false alarms seemed excessive. <br /> H. Mayor Karp also discussed the Bay Cycle Classic Race for the Bay Trail <br /> and said it was a worthy cause and a lot of fun. <br /> I . Mayor Karp noted that, from Wednesday through Sunday, he will be meeting <br /> with the U.S. Conference of Mayors. He said he is heading a team of <br /> Mayors nationwide regarding highway concerns. He said the new highway <br /> bill proposed a five-cent increase. He said it is important to have <br /> as many local projects included in the bill as possible. <br /> 10.
