Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - January 2, 1990 Page - 3 - ORDINANCES ADOPTED: ORDINANCE NO. 89-027 (1413/1076) AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND ADDING SEVERAL ARTICLES OF TITLE VII , CHAPTER 5 OF THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF THE 1988 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1988 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1988 UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1988 UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1988 UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1987 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1988 UNIFORM SOLAR ENERGY CODE AND THE 1988 UNIFORM SWIMMING POOL, SPA AND HOT TUB CODE Introduced by Council Member Glaze who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Perry, and carried by the following called vote: AYES: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Jardin, Perry, Santos, Suchman; Mayor Karp ( 7 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 ) Council Member Santos spoke regarding shake roofs. He recommended that an education program be presented to the public on the dangers of shake roofs and that homeowners be encouraged to use some alternate type of roofing. Jim Cole, Fire Chief, explained that the trend is toward non-combustible roofing because it is less expensive. Dick Randall , City Manager, indicated that City Council will be receiving a report from staff on not only shake roofs but on residential sprinklers. Council Member Santos asked that this report also include information regarding the possibility of the City providing fire insurance. The following Ordinance was then introduced: ORDINANCE NO. 89-028 (1413/1035) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3-3-100 AND 3-3-245 OF TITLE III, CHAPTER 3 OF THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO ADOPTION OF THE 1988 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE Introduced by Council Member Glaze who moved its adoption, seconded by Council Member Faria, and carried by the following called vote: AYES: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Jardin, Perry, Santos, Suchman; Mayor Karp ( 7 ) NOES: None ( 0 ) ABSENT: None ( 0 )
