Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 2, 1990 Page - 10 - <br /> MISCELLANEOUS: <br /> a. On motion of Council Member Glaze, seconded by Council Member Jardin and <br /> carried unanimously, the City Council approved the concept of Discover San <br /> Leandro Day and a $5,750 budget from the Economic Development Reserves. <br /> b. The City Clerk requested that the swearing in ceremony for new City Council <br /> and School Board members on April 17, 1990 be scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. <br /> so that the School Board members could then attend their Board meeting at <br /> 7:00. The City Council concurred with this request. <br /> c. On motion of Council Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Glaze and <br /> carried unanimously, the City Council approved a $744 budget for Earth Day <br /> activities. <br /> d. Council Member Jardin requested that staff look into the possibility of <br /> planting street trees in the parking strip area on the south side of Williams <br /> Street between Nome and Aurora. <br /> e. Council Member Glaze announced that a Salute to Ed Suchman would be held on <br /> April 21 , 1990 from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Bonaire Park. Interested persons <br /> can contact Council Members Glaze or Perry. <br /> f. Council Member Glaze announced that a breakfast in honor of Council Member <br /> Jardin would be held on April 28, 1990 from 9:30 to 11 :30 a.m. at the Oyster <br /> Bay Regional Shoreline Area. <br /> g. Council Member Santos spoke regarding the posting of campaign signs on public <br /> property and suggested that the sign ordinance be discussed with the new <br /> Council Members in May. <br /> h. Council Member Suchman said he and Dennis Smith, Recreation-Human Resources <br /> Director, had looked at the baseball fields at Pacific and at John Muir. <br /> He requested that the City Manager discuss the use of the John Muir fields <br /> with the Superintendent of Schools. <br /> i . Council Member Perry reminded everyone to vote on April 10th. She also said <br /> that the Halcyon Drive Landscape Plan would be presented to the Homeowners <br /> Association at the Girls Club and would include a dedication of the landscape <br /> area on Earth Day. She noted that the triangle of property at the <br /> intersection of Halcyon and Washington is being used for car sales by <br /> individuals and requested that staff look into this matter. She also noted <br /> that it is unfortunate to see the number of schools that are being closed <br /> and said she felt that the community and the School Board would have to <br /> address this issue in the future. <br /> j . Council Member Suchman asked where the children who will be living in the <br /> Homestead Development will be attending school . <br /> k. Steve Meyers, City Attorney, said he will be unable to attend the April 16 <br /> City Council meeting and the swearing in ceremony on the 17th, and wished <br /> to express his pleasure in working with Council Members Jardin and Suchman. <br />
