Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 17, 1990 Page - 2 - <br /> The Council Members introduced members of their families and made brief remarks, <br /> thanking their supporters, families and friends, and pledging to work toward the <br /> betterment of San Leandro. <br /> Judge Kurtz then swore in Mayor Karp, who also introduced his family and thanked <br /> his supporters. Mayor Karp presented trophies to two of his supporters, Howard <br /> Kerr and Caroline Green, and thanked them for all their work on his campaign. <br /> Mayor Karp thanked Council Members Jardin and Suchman for their dedicated service <br /> to the City and described the accomplishments that had been achieved during the <br /> Council Members' terms. <br /> Council Member Suchman wished new Council Members Corbett and Polvorosa well and <br /> said that they would both be members of a team consisting of City staff, the <br /> Mayor and the City Council . He also extended his congratulations to Mayor Karp <br /> and Council Member Faria on their re-election and to the School Board Trustees. <br /> He said the City Council has supported the City very well and accomplished much. <br /> He spoke specifically about the sports activities provided for the youth of San <br /> Leandro. In closing, Council Member Suchman noted that his wife was ill and in <br /> the hospital and asked the audience to pray for her. <br /> Council Member Jardin introduced his wife and thanked her for her support. <br /> He also introduced his son Bob. He described San Leandro as it had existed many <br /> years ago when he first came to town and described many of the accomplishments <br /> that have been achieved. He said the most important vote he had made as a <br /> Council Member was for the Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance and hoped to see <br /> it expanded to the industrial and commercial areas.
