Mayor Karp noted that East Bay Dischargers Authority is looking into the <br /> use of an abandoned gas line running from the airport to San Jose to run <br /> secondary-treated effluent treated for irrigation uses. He also noted that <br /> he will be testifying before the California Transportation Commission <br /> regarding funding for roadways in Alameda County. <br /> j. Anthony Lewis, 14877 Washington Avenue. Mr. Lewis spoke regarding a problem <br /> with eighteen wheelers parking adjacent to his driveway. He was referred <br /> to City Engineer Bill Silva, who was in the audience. <br /> k. Ronald Yank, Attorney for the San Leandro Firefighters, addressed the City <br /> Council . He said his purpose at the meeting was to try and get things back <br /> on track between the Firefighters and the City Council . He spoke regarding <br /> the history of negotiations and the matter of the use of defibrilators <br /> during negotiations. He noted that this matter was now going to arbitration <br /> and that he was attending the City Council Meeting because he felt City <br /> Council perceptions were different from those of the firefighters. He said <br /> the firefighters care a great deal about having a good relationship with the <br /> City Council and said he hoped he could meet with Mike Riback, Assistant - <br /> City Attorney, between now and the date of the arbitration. He said the <br /> firefighters were seeking a win-win situation and hoped to resolve any <br /> failures of communication. <br /> 1 . Richard Collins, 558 Joaquin, said he was concerned regarding the City <br /> Council 's commitment to children. He noted the cancellation of the <br /> children's cooking program. It was explained that this program was <br /> cancelled because the proposed use of the kitchen at San Leandro High School <br /> did not work out. He also said he took his children to the Tony Lema Golf <br /> Course and the fee was $2.50 per child. He said the Alameda Golf Course <br /> charges $1 .00 per child. He noted that he had seven children. Mayor Karp <br /> noted that the pro at the San Leandro Golf Course hopes to implement a <br /> children's program.
